Every year, Failaka Advisors solicits nominations for its annual FAILAKA ISLAMIC FUND AWARDS, recognizing the best-performing funds and those with the most noteworthy achievements in the past year. Please note: Qualifying funds must have AUM of more than $10 mm by 12/31/07.
Below is a description of the Failaka awards by category.
Best Islamic Fund Manager (GCC)
Given to the GCC-based fund family with the most funds that exceed their respective benchmarks. The fund family must have a three-year history. (In the case of a tie, the award is given to the fund with the highest cumulative return for those funds exceeding their benchmarks.)
Best Islamic Fund Manager (U.S.)
Given to the U.S.-based fund family with the most funds that exceed their respective benchmarks. The fund family must have a three-year history. (In the case of a tie, the award is given to the fund with the highest cumulative return for those funds exceeding their benchmarks.)
Best Islamic Fund Manager (Asia)
Given to the Asia-based fund family with the most funds that exceed their respective benchmarks. The fund family must have a three-year history. (In the case of a tie, the award is given to the fund with the highest cumulative return for those funds exceeding their benchmarks.)
Best Global Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the global equity fund with the best-single year's performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history.
Best Global Equity Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the global equity fund with the best three-year performance, from year-end 2004 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a one-year history.
Best Global Equity Fund (Five-Year)
Given to the global equity fund with the best five-year performance, from year-end 2002 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a five-year history.
Best GCC Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the GCC equity fund with the best single-year's performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history.
Best GCC Equity Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the GCC equity fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2004 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.
Best European Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the European equity fund with the best single-year's performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history.
Best European Equity Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the European equity fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2004 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a one-year history.
Best U.S. Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the U.S. equity fund with the best one-year's performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history. Note: No more than 10% of the fund's allocation can be comprised of overseas (non-U.S.) securities, ADRs or GDRs.
Best U.S. Equity Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the U.S. equity fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2004 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.
Best Asian Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the Asian equity fund with the best one-years performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history.
Best Asian Equity Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the Asian equity fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2004 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.
Best Malaysian Fund (One-Year)
Given to the Malaysian equity fund with the best one-years performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history.
Best Malaysia Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the Malaysian equity fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2004 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.
Best Balanced Fund (One-Year)
Given to the Malaysian equity fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2004 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a one-year history.
Best Balanced Fund (Three-Year) Given to the balanced equity fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2004 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.
Best MENA Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the equity fund investing in the Middle East and North African region with the best single-year's performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a one-year history.
Best Emerging Market Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the emerging market equity fund with a targeted investment geography in the Middle East, Indonesia, Brazil, Russia, India, China, and/or other countries defined as emerging markets, and having the best one-years performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2007, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a one-year history.
Please note: Funds must be nominated in order to qualify. Nominations will be accepted from January 1 to February 15, 2007. |
