AWARD CATEGORIES

Every year, Failaka Advisors solicits nominations for its annual FAILAKA ISLAMIC FUND AWARDS, recognizing the best-performing funds and those with the most noteworthy achievements in the past year. Please note: Qualifying funds must have had AUM of more than $10 mm by 12/31/09.

Nominations are being accepted through 20 February 2010. All winners will be announced on the night of the event 12 April 2010.

Below is a description of the Failaka awards by category.

Best Global Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the global equity fund with the best one-year performance from year-end 2008 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history.

Best Global Equity Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the global equity fund with the best three-year performance, from year-end 2006 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.

Best Global Equity Fund (Five-Year)
Given to the global equity fund with the best five-year performance, from year-end 2004 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a five-year history.


Best GCC Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the GCC equity fund with the best one-year performance from year-end 2008 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history.

Best GCC Equity Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the GCC equity fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.


Best Saudi Arabian Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the Saudi Arabian equity fund with the best one-year performance from year-end 2008 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history.

Best Saudi Arabian Equity Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the Saudi Arabian equity fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a three-year history.

Best Saudi Arabian Equity Fund (Five-Year)
Given to the Saudi Arabian equity fund with the best five-year performance from year-end 2004 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a five-year history.


Best European Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the European equity fund with the best one-year performance from year-end 2008 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history.

Best European Equity Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the European equity fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.


Best U.S. Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the U.S. equity fund with the best one-year performance from year-end 2008 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history.

Best U.S. Equity Fund (Three-Year)

Given to the U.S. equity fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.

Best U.S. Equity Fund (Five-Year)
Given to the U.S. equity fund with the best five-year performance, from year-end 2004 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a five-year history. Note: No more than 20% of the fund's allocation can be comprised of overseas (non-U.S.) securities, ADRs or GDRs listed on a U.S. exchange.


Best Asian Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the Asian equity fund investing across Asia with the best one-year performance from year-end 2008 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a one-year history.

Best Asian Equity Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the Asian equity fund investing across Asia with the best three-year performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.


Best Fund-of-Funds (One-Year)
Given to the global equity fund-of-funds with the best one-year performance from year-end 2008 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum one-year history.


Best Malaysian Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the Malaysian domiciled equity fund investing in Malaysia, only with the best one-year performance from year-end 2008 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a one-year history.

Best Malaysian Equity Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the Malaysian domiciled equity fund investing in Malaysia only, with the best three-year performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.

Best Malaysian Equity Fund (Five-Year)
Given to the Malaysian domiciled equity fund investing in Malaysia only, with the best five-year performance from year-end 2004 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum a five-year history.


Best Malaysian Islamic Bond Fund (One-Year)
Given to the Malaysian domiciled bond fund with the best one-year performance from year-end 2008 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history.

Best Malaysian Islamic Bond Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the Malaysian domiciled bond fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.

Best Malaysian Islamic Bond Fund (Five-Year)
Given to the Malaysian domiciled bond fund with the best five-year performance from year-end 2004 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a five-year history.


Best International Sukuk Fund (One-Year)
Given to the fund dealing in sukuk from a variety of countries with the best one-year USD performance from year-end 2008 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history as of year-end 2009.


Best MENA Equity Fund (One-Year)
Given to the MENA equity fund with the best one-year performance from year-end 2008 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a one-year history.


Best Emerging Markets Fund (One-Year)
Given to the Emerging Markets fund with the best one-year performance from year-end 2008 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value using USD returns. The fund must have a minimum of a one-year history.

Best Emerging Markets Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the Emerging Markets fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value using USD returns. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.


Best South African Fund (Three-Year)
Given to the South African Fund fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2006 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a three-year history.

Best South African Fund (Five-Year)
Given to the South African Fund fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2004 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a five-year history.

Best South African Fund (Seven-Year)
Given to the South African Fund fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 2002 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a seven-year history.

Best South African Fund (Ten-Year)
Given to the South African Fund fund with the best three-year performance from year-end 1999 to year-end 2009, measured in terms of net asset value. The fund must have a minimum of a ten-year history.
